days off
I'm on my days off right now - from Sunday evening until the end of Tuesday afternoon - and thus far they have been filled with: a sister/cousin sleep-over (watching Return to Me - the ultimate girls' night movie), visiting friends, filling out forms for college stuff, and trying to get some sense of organization back into my life.
The most exciting part, though, has been figuring out a way to squeeze in a road trip to Missouri with my sister, Allison, to see an old childhood friend, Elissa! It's going to be right between getting home from CH (the conference centre where I'm working) the last weekend in August and flying out to Edmonton the next Friday. I'll actually be skipping out on some of the King's orientation, but if it's anything like Prairie's, then all I'll be missing is awkward get-to-know you games! Yes, I am trying to be somewhat sensible through all this, and have talked to a King's person and am going to be there for the actually important stuff, and have registered for the super fun retreat in the mountains for all freshmen, where I'll be able to start meeting friends that first weekend.
I can't believe this is all actually working out, because I haven't seen Elissa for a couple years, but this has been a summer of seeing old friends and making new ones. I love it! I just wish I could see all of you this summer!
acceptance
I've just been accepted to The King's University College in Edmonton, Alberta for Psychology! After many weeks, nay, months, of confusion, it's great to know where I'm going and what I'm doing in September. I had considered lots of things, from New York to Australia to Three Hills but this seems to be the right next step. I'll be living with Emily and Trenton, my sister and brother-in-law, so that's really exciting, too!
new horizons
Here I sit in the staff room at Christian Horizons Conference Centre, a camp for ppl with physical & mental disabilities. It's been awhile since I last updated, and too much has happened to even note a smidgen of it, but I just felt like letting the world know where I am, what I'm up to. It's awesome working here! It's very exhausting at times, but it's such a fulfilling existence too. I just returned from a surprise trip out West for Amy's wedding, and those were some great times! I loved being able to see lots of Discoverites again, though I missed you who weren't able to make it out. I also saw my sister and brother-in-law, so that was lots of fun as well. Keith, Darcie and I (and we can't forget our mascot, Corporal Flapjack!) drove there and back, so it was quite the long drive, but it was great to spend time with my bro again and to get to know Darcie so much better. Well I need to get back to work now.
