Change
Changes, changes, changes! I hope you like change (or at least are interested in it!), b/c lots of it has been going on here.
For the past 2 weeks I've been working temporarily for a church friend in her accounting office - filing, scanning, filing, photocopying, filing, stapling, filing, destapling, filing, addressing, filing, mailing, filing, etc. etc! It's been fun to get to know her better, and I'm sure it's valuable experience working in an office. That's just until tomorrow, though.
Tomorrow night I'm going camping w/ friends & one of my sisters (well, you'd classify as a friend too!), and then on Saturday I'm starting the next phase of my summer: working at Christian Horizons, a retreat centre for people with developmental disabilities. I'm really excited for it! It'll be super hard, but so worthwhile! When I'm at the accounting office, I don't often feel like my work is worthwhile. Yes, I'm helping people, but I don't really feel the satisfaction that comes from making a difference in someone's life.
In fact, just this past weekend I've changed my life plan (as much as I have control over it, anyway) from being an Architect to being a Counsellor. Yep - that's right - no longer will I be studying at the University of Waterloo to be a Professional in the field of buildings and design. This isn't a rash decision, though. For as long as I've been considering Architecture, I've also been thinking about helping people emotionally, mentally, etc., and hopefully (as is the ultimate goal in what we do), spiritually. I'm not exactly sure where this will take me, but I finally feel at peace about this decision. It fits more into who I want to see myself become, and I can see how God's been equipping me for this sort of thing.
I'd appreciate lots of prayers, both for this summer and for guidance for the year, and I'd love to know what you think!

meredith, i'm so proud of you! i know what you mean about feeling significant in what you do -- there's something about 'hands-on' work that really brings a lot of affirmation with it. may you continue to be a powerful instrument in the hands of our Father. love you.
Meredith,
"Since you have been raised to a new life with Christ, set your sights on the realities of heaven, where Christ sits at God's right hand in the place of honour and power. Let heaven fill your thoughts. Do not think only about things down here on earth. For you died when Christ died, and your real life is hidden with Christ in God. And when Christ, who is your real life, is revealed to the whole world, you will share in all his glory." Colossians 3
I love how you are letting God be your Architect (Designer) despite the security changes it may bring at first. I hope you had a wonderful week @ camp!!!
with love, Ash
